What’s Brewing in Clearwater Beach

3 Daughters Brewing Clearwater

3 Daughters Brewing recently opened new tasting room

The Clearwater Beach sun rises to meet 3 Daughters Brewing

The ever-popular St. Petersburg-based brewing company officially opened its new location at 381 Mandalay Avenue in Clearwater Beach March 7.

The brewery’s new location will offer exclusive small-batch drafts alongside classic favorites like the best-selling beach blonde ale. The new spot has an onsite brewery system, hard ciders and a “beach bites” food menu. 3 Daughters looks to expand the brand in exciting new directions.

For 3 Daughters, settling on the beachside only made sense.

“The location is very transient,” said Brian Horne, vice president of sales and marketing. “Around 85% of people walking through the door are from out of state.”

Other locations considered included Tampa and Bradenton. A stroke of luck in the form of a suddenly available third-floor space brought them to Clearwater Beach.

“The opportunity fell into our lap,” Horne said.

The rest is soon to be history. 3 Daughters Brewing at Clearwater Beach can give patrons a “true taste of Florida,” Horne said.

Top to bottom, inside and out, 3 Daughters Brewing oozes a distinctly Florida culture. The beers, ciders, and seltzers such as the new strawberry nitro blonde are light and citrusy. The new spot boasts sunset views of Clearwater Beach and the Intracoastal Waterway. The brewers themselves, who manage the full three-barrel system, are anglers and beachcombers. The authenticity is palpable.

Tapping into the true taste of Florida has been an overwhelming success for 3 Daughters. The company’s biggest-ever sales week and month were this February. Their highest sales year ever was 2021 — a year the company saw 40% growth.

It is no surprise that Horne expects this year to set even more records. Currently, 3 Daughters is trending at 50% growth.

3 Daughters has become one of the largest independent breweries in the state. The company was founded by friends Mike Harting and Ty Weaver in 2013. It personifies the Sunshine State in a stein.

“Every beer, and everything we do, screams Florida — the sun, the beach, the water, the outdoors-ness. Time, effort and research [go into] making the beers match,” Horne said. “Every brewery has their thing. Our hook is Florida.”

More than just a great place to sip a cold one, 3 Daughters Brewing lives and breathes its values of community, family and beer — in that order. Giving back to the community they love is paramount.

A fraction of the company’s annual budget is devoted entirely to this endeavor. Spent grain from the brewing process is sold to farmers in Central Florida to feed livestock. Proceeds are donated to food pantries in St. Petersburg.

3 Daughters’ original spot on 22nd Street South in St. Petersburg has been open since 2013. It is known for its homemade game tables, repurposed artwork, a revolving door of décor and a distinct lack of TVs.

The Clearwater Beach site marks the second location for 3 Daughters Brewing — but do not expect it to be their last.
