Florida Polytechnic University Ranked No. 1 Public College in the South

Florida Polytechnic University is now ranked the No. 1 public college in the Southern United States, as of U.S. News and World Report’s latest ranking. This is the university’s first appearance on the list.

U.S. News and World Report also ranks Florida Poly third among all top colleges in the Southern United States in its 2022 Best Colleges List. This includes both public and private colleges.

“Our outstanding showing in these rankings is evidence that Florida Poly has matured into a dynamic provider of STEM education, on par with some of the most well-known institutions in the nation,” said Dr. Randy K. Avent, the university’s president. “Our academic programs, which provide a high-touch model with small classes and strong curricular experiences, continue to grow and provide a rich environment that fosters student development and success.”

Florida Polytechnic also landed the No. 31 spot in Best Value Schools, No. 53 in Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs and Top Performer for Social Mobility.

USNWR determines rankings using several factors, including faculty resources, graduation and retention rates, undergraduate academic reputation determined by a peer assessment survey and more. USNWR shares more in-depth details behind its methodology on its website.

These rankings are not the only success that the institution is celebrating. The Fall 2021 class was the largest in Florida Poly’s history and grew 25% over the previous year.
