Where to Watch Football In Greater Tampa Bay

The close of summer brings what is for many considered the most exciting time of the year: football season.

From the high school level to professional, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays quickly become holy days of obligation for disciples of the game. A truly American pastime, football is a community unifier, an opportunity for friendly rivalry and a reminder to kick back, relax and enjoy the fun of the sport.

Whether a Gator, a Seminole or a Hurricane, a Buccaneer, Jaguar or Dolphin fan or a follower of any of the hundreds of other gridiron greats from around the country, Greater Tampa Bay has many places to watch the game of choice.

Here are a few of the hottest local spots.

Sparkman Wharf — Tampa

In the heart of downtown Tampa is one of the best spots to join the crowd and get into

the game. Sparkman Wharf is located near Water Street Tampa and the Riverwalk. It contains a dozen eateries, a bowling alley and a central beer garden surrounded by tables and lounge chairs.

Plenty of large TVs make for a communal viewing experience. The breadth of food and drink will keep everyone satisfied. This spot is great for friends and groups of any size.

American Social — Harbour Island

This 15,000-square-foot bar and restaurant is one of the largest on this list and is as American-themed as the game itself. Calling itself a luxury sports bar, American Social has a VIP bar and private patio space. For the stylish football fan, this waterfront spot is the place to be.

Ferg’s Sports Bar and Grill — St. Pete

Not to be outdone, Ferg’s Sports Bar and Grill in St. Pete houses a whopping 70 televisions. A St. Pete staple for over 30 years, Ferg’s has hosted tens of thousands of fans to watch sporting events.

Coppertail Brewing Company — Ybor City

Is bigger always better? At Coppertail Brewing, the answer is an unequivocal yes. This local brewery has a 150-inch HD projection screen. Enough said.

GameTime — Ybor City

Has ever a name been so apt? Ybor City’s GameTime is a sports bar-arcade extravaganza. More than 60 HD TVs line the walls, ensuring football games are viewable from all angles, all the time. This is a perfect spot to host watch parties.

Original Hooters — Clearwater

Hooters, of course, is famous partly for its sports bar atmosphere. While there are many locations nationally, Clearwater happens to be home to the original location. A visit to this historical spot is a great place to catch a game.

Rotating — Alumni Association Watch Parties

Stay in the loop for the next big spot. For Florida alums, the Tampa Gator Club hosts watch parties around the area. Tampa Noles does the same for FSU grads, as well as the USF Alumni Association and the Tampa ‘Canes.
