New Leadership Candidate Selected for USF

Dr. Prasant Mohapatra has been selected as the newest candidate for the University of South Florida’s provost and executive vice president of academic affairs. This makes him the fifth candidate in the school’s search.

Mohapatra started visiting all three USF campuses –– St. Petersburg, Sarasota-Manatee and Tampa –– on Jan. 10.

Mohapatra serves as Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of California, Davis, and as a professor of computer science. Mohapatra earned his doctoral degree from Penn State University in 1993. In 2008, he won an Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award. His area of study contains mostly wireless networks, cybersecurity and internet protocols.

Jonathan Fleece will become Empath Health CEO

Jan. 11 was Empath Health’s CEO Rafael Sciullo’s last day before officially handing over the reins to President Jonathan Fleece. Sciullo is retiring after a 40-year career.

Before being president at Empath, Fleece was the former CEO of Stratum Health. The two companies merged in 2020.

Fleece graduated from Emory University in 1990 with a B.A. in Psychology. In 1997, he earned his J.D. from St. Louis University, School of Law. He is a former Florida board-certified health attorney. He is also the founder of TO BE 4 HEALTH, a program based on the values of providing people, communities and businesses the tools to gain better health and health care.

Weatherford Capital Welcomes New Partner

David Seider has been appointed as a partner at family-owned equity firm, Weatherford Capital.

Seider joined the firm in 2019 and quickly rose to Principal. He manages the firm’s investment analysis and transaction execution. He also is responsible for the portfolio management activities.

Seider serves on the Investment Advisory Committee for Innovate Ventures at the University of Florida. He earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration from UF and is a member of the Florida Blue Key. Seider earned his M.B.A. from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and was a Fuqua Scholar.

Lissette Campos Joins Tampa Bay Chamber

Eight-time Emmy Award winning journalist Lissette Campos recently started her new position as Senior Director of Strategic Branding, Marketing and Communications for the Tampa Bay Chamber.

Campos brings more than 30 years of experience in journalism and strategic communications to the chamber.

Campos earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Florida International University in 1989. She also attended the University of Cambridge Summer Abroad program for Political Science. She is best known around the Bay as the host of “Positively Tampa Bay.”

CEO Council of Tampa Bay Appoints New Chairman

Amy Martinez-Monfort, founder and CEO of Tampa Laundry Company, is the new chairman for the CEO Council.

Martinez-Monfort has been CEO of her laundry company since 2015. She attended law school at the University of Florida and practiced at Carlton Fields in Tampa.

She plans to continue the work of her predecessor and aims to provide members with more resources and events.
