Around every corner of Greater Tampa Bay, highly regarded hospitals stand ready to serve patients with next-level health care.

In addition, 19 hospitals throughout the region have earned high performing status for one or more procedures or conditions, according to USNWR.

Whenever a loved one is in need of treatment, be it routine or intensive, every family wants the absolute best for their loved ones. Going to a highly ranked hospital or treatment center means that those loved ones are in the best possible hands, with the most proven experience and strongest support from technologies, advanced research and innovative practices.

It sets its own bar, with almost two decades on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals list and in global rankings by Newsweek.

For the seventh consecutive year, TGH was named among Florida’s top four hospitals.

More transplant procedures are performed at TGH than almost anywhere else in the country. It has performed more than 11,000 transplant surgeries — 5,000 of which were kidney transplants — a feat only a few dozen other hospitals nationwide have reached.

In 2021, TGH began a $550 million expansion to the already large hospital in the Davis Islands area. Additions will include a new intensive care unit, a freestanding emergency department, renovations and expansions to the Burn Center, expansions to the Bayshore Pavilion, main campus lobby renovations and new clinic space at the TGH Brandon Healthplex Oncology Institute. Construction will continue through 2026.

MPH continues to grow. It recently opened the Doyle Tower, featuring an additional main entrance, a new surgical center, women’s services and orthopedics units.

St. Joseph’s Hospital, a BayCare hospital

  • Regionally ranked
  • No. 12 in Florida
  • No. 3 in Tampa-St. Petersburg
  • High performing in 10 procedures conditions

Another key hospital within the BayCare system, St. Joseph’s Hospital has served the Tampa community since 1934. SJH is a standout when it comes to specialized care. With medical teams in more than 70 specialties, even the most complex diagnoses and treatments are handled with expertise here. An excellent example of specialized care at SJH is the St. Jospeh’s Women’s Hospital, renowned for labor and delivery, childbirth education, its level IV neonatal intensive care unit and maternal/fetal program.

SJH rose to meet the demands of the community with a $126 million expansion project with its campus on the eastern edge of the Westshore District. Most notably, the project included a new, six-story tower that opened in 2020, with a pedestrian bridge connecting the women’s hospital to the general hospital.

AdventHealth Tampa

  • High Performing in seven procedures and conditions

AdventHealth has a large and highly regarded presence throughout much of Florida and in eight other states. AdventHealth Tampa shines the brightest among its other GTB campuses in USNWR rankings, with high performing status in seven procedures and conditions, plus regional and state rankings.

AdventHealth Tampa’s Taneja Center for Surgery opened in 2021. The $256 million project included a tower with new inpatient rooms, operating rooms, pre- and post-op rooms, a new main entrance to the hospital and many first-floor amenities.

Other recent developments include a $20 million project at AdventHealth North Pinellas in Tarpon Springs, with expansions to the main hospital and renovations to the emergency department.

Highlights

  • Regionally ranked
  • No. 24 in Florida (tied)
  • No. 5 in Tampa-St. Petersburg
  • High performing in seven procedures and conditions

Part of the BayCare Health System, St. Anthony’s Hospital has a legacy of compassionate health care in St. Petersburg. The Franciscan Sisters of Allegany founded this hospital in 1931, placing value on treating the whole patient with gentle and attentive care. It has an emphasis on holistic healing and is the county’s only faith-based health care provider.

Another guiding principle at SAH is to remain on the cutting edge of health care in terms of technology and innovation. Physicians use advanced technologies to care for patients with a variety of nationally recognized services.

In 2022, construction on a $152 million expansion project was completed. The newly completed patient tower, a three-year, $152 million dollar expansion project, adds 90 private patient rooms, as well as enhanced technologies and renovated facilities. With a total of 448 beds and continued plans for growth, St. Anthony’s looks to provide the highest quality care for its patients.

“At a high level, the project enhances and modernizes existing hospital operations and expands capacity bringing the most current clinical environment available to our patients and community,” said Scott Smith, president of St. Anthony’s Hospital since 2016.
