Breaking Down the Job Market By the Numbers 

Greater Tampa Bay’s growing economy, with a wealth of opportunities across a variety of fields, is a clear benefit to living life on the Gulf Coast. 

In short, GTB provides a robust and well-rounded job market with a little bit of something for everybody. White-collar occupations overwhelmingly dominate the market at almost 85%, with private companies being the biggest employers. Average incomes stay above or close to the national average for most occupations.  

Some of GTB’s fastest-growing industries include cybersecurity, financial technology, avionics, marine electronics and supply chain management. GTB has put itself in a great position to be a major player in the health care game in recent years, with the BayCare Health System being the region’s largest employer.
